Thelma Andrews
1922-2017

Thelma Andrews passed away on February 22, 2017. She was born Thelma Irene Heniger July 20,1922 the daughter of Roland Dale Heniger and Alta (Firkins) Heniger in the village of Amity Iowa.

Thelma graduated high school in 1941 from College Springs High School. Following graduation, she married Perry Griffith. During WWII, she was a "Rosie the Riveter" building aircraft for the war effort in San Diego, Wichita, Boston, and the Carolinas.

Following the war they settled near College Springs where Thelma was employed as a telephone operator, worked on the farm, helped build a trucking company and began a family of three children, Joyce Marcene Griffith born 1947, Dwight Dean Griffith born 1952, and Kevin Eugene Griffith born 1956.

Thelma married Herbert Doyle Andrews on February 13, 1964 and began a life in Nebraska. They lived in Syracuse, Nebraska for many years. They had one child Norma Gail Andrews. Thelma, during this time was active in the community working for the Methodist Church (of which she was a member) as secretary. She worked for Dr. Sweat a local veterinarian, and Larry Larson who owned Larry's Grocery store. Thelma was meals on wheel coordinator for Tabitha Nursing Home in Lincoln.

After moving to St Joseph Missouri, Thelma again put her clerical skills to work as she worked along side her husband as employees of Speedway Transportation. They retired in Northwest Missouri living in Elmo and Maryville Missouri.

Her sister Norma Heniger Spangler, brother-in-law Don Spangler, and infant child Norma Gail Andrews preceded her in death. Five grandchildren, many great grandchildren, friends, and members of the communities she has lived in survive her.

There is no formal Visitation, however Memorial Services will be 10:30 AM Monday, February 27, 2017, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Burial will be held at LaMar Cemetery at a later date.

Mrs. Andrews will be cremated.
