Robert Joseph "Tug" Barmann, 90, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024 at his home.

Robert was born on January 17, 1934 in Maryville to Charles and Veronica (Fisher) Barmann.  He was a graduate of Maryville High School.  Robert served in the United States Army.  After the service, he worked in the fertilizer business and then began farming full time in the Maryville area.  He was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Maryville Elks Club,  American Legion Tri-C Post #464, an honorary member of the Future Farmers of America, and served on the St. Gregory School Board.  He supported his sons in their Future Farmers of America and sports activities and through their Boy Scout ranks to Eagle Scout and was a Sachem in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.

He married Alice T. Farnan on November 9, 1957 in Clyde, Missouri.  She preceded him in death on September 12, 2019.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Barmann and infant sister Teresa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jim Wynne, Irvin and Edna Farnan, Wilford Farnan, Robert "Doris" and Alice Farnan, Albert and Mary Ann Reeves, John and Helen Farnan, and Maurice and Bea Farnan; and grandson-in-law Cody Welch.

Survivors include his children Kevin (Donna) Barmann, Tim (Sandy) Barmann of Maryville, Steve Barmann, Conception Jct., Missouri, Rob (Camellia) Barmann of Platte City, Missouri; grandchildren Tara (Jesse) LeMar, Jessica Welch, Joshua (Alexis Cook) Barmann of Maryville, Eric (Katie) Barmann and Janessa Barmann of Platte City, Jason (Katie) Barmann of Liberty, Missouri, Jill (Nick) Siegel and Matthew Barmann of Kansas City, Missouri, Jeremy (Tracy Otieno) Barmann of Lee's Summit, Missouri; great-grandchildren: Brayden Olson, Jack Ezzell, Lennon, Eisley, and Jude Siegel, Kyle and Zoey Welch, and Bennett, Eva and Kolbe Barmann; brothers Bernard (Bee) Barmann, Bakersfield, California, Mary Jane Wynne, Indianapolis, Indiana, Fr. Karl Barmann, OSB, Stanberry, Missouri, Sr. Rose Ann Barmann, OSB, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joe (Catherine) Barmann, Maryville, Regina (Steven) Paschold, Firth, Nebraska, and Mike (Mary Jo) Barmann, Maryville; sister-in-law Mary Ann Downey, Plattsburg, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Friday, October 25 at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church under the care of Price Funeral Home.  Burial St. Mary's Cemetery in Maryville.  Rosary 5:30 p.m. Thursday, October 24 at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.  The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church or Nodaway County Senior Center.
