Mildred Verlene Kelly

Mildred Verlene Kelly, 93, Barnard, Missouri, died May 2, 2016, at Golden Living Center, Maryville, Missouri.

Verlene was born June 29, 1922, in Barnard, to Harry Ray and Anna Mildred (Fuller) Schmitt.

A graduate of Barnard High School, she married Eldon L. Kelly April 8, 1939, in Troy, Kansas.

Verlene worked as a Postal Clerk for the Barnard Post Office and served many years as the Treasurer for the South Nodaway School District.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Eldon Kelly (January 15, 2003), brothers Afton and Harry Schmitt and infant son Gene Randall Kelly.

Verlene is survived by her daughter Joan (Sam) Vanfossan, Barnard; grandson Douglas (Lauren) Vanfossan, Excelsior Springs, MO; granddaughter Teresa (Jim) McCaffrey, Lake Oswego, OR; great-grandchildren Samanatha, Alex and Lyle Vanfossan; sister Darlene Nelson, Maryville, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016, from 6:00-7:00 PM at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Graveside Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 6th, at the American Legion Cemetery, Barnard.

Memorials may be made to the South Nodaway Scholarship Fund.
