Marvin E. Harper, 76, of Barnard, Missouri passed away at his home on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Marvin was born on February 4, 1948 in Elmo, Missouri to the late Pleasant (Diamond) Euell Harper and Austa Vae (Andrews) Harper.
He was a 1966 graduate of Maryville High School and graduated from Columbia College, where he earned a degree in business management. Marvin served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked for Farmers Produce & Elevator in Hopkins, Uniroyal and Northwest Missouri State University as Facility Coordinator, retiring after 27 years of service.
Marvin was a member of the Laura Street Baptist Church. He was a 4-H leader and a member of the American Legion Post #287. He held several offices in the American Legion at local and state up to and including Missouri State Department Commander, Variture 1402 of the 40 & 8, local and state up to including Grand Aumonier, Nodaway Lodge #470, where he held many positions locally and also District Deputy Grand Master.
He married Patsy Litten in February of 1969. They later divorced. From this union two sons were born, Tony Harper and Bob Harper. He later married Mary (Duke) Davis on March 22, 1996. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children, Tony Harper, Bob Harper, Robin Dredge and Jeff Davis; four grandchildren, Savannah Harper, Chase Harper (their Mother, Wendy Harper), Erin Dredge (Nick Fuston), and Mason Dredge; two sisters Janeen Harper and Ponya King and brother Randy Harper; as well as his nieces & nephews.
In addition to being preceded in death by his parents, he was also preceded in death by brother-in-law Jim King and nephew Jamie Kinder.
Services will be 10:00 am, Friday, March 15th at Laura Street Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Barnard American Legion Cemetery. There will be a Masonic Service at 5:30, Thursday, March 14th at Laura Street Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the Masonic Service from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The family suggests memorials to the Barnard American Legion Cemetery, Barnard, Missouri.
