Lowell Dean Holbrook, 91, died Wed Nov 1, 2017 in Kansas City, MO.

Born Oct 26, 1926 in Clearmont, MO, to Jess and Madge Holbrook. He retired from Iowa Power and Light Company in Council Bluffs, IA. The only other job outside the military was for Coca Cola in Clarinda, IA.

Lowell graduated from Clearmont High School in 1945. He was then drafted into the Navy where he served in WWII. Lowell was all state in Missouri basketball for 4 straight years while in high school. He loved sports. Basketball, football and baseball were his favorites. He also like to read the newspaper from front to back every day.

Lowell was a union member of the IEBW for 56 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Maryville, MO, and he was a member of the American Legion.

Lowell was loved by all. People that he knew, would say he was a kind, nice, selfless, humble and generous person with a huge heart,

He married Betty Jean Hayden on Dec, 26 1946, in Atchison, KS. Betty preceded him in death June 8, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents Jess and Madge, and 3 brothers Leo, Kenneth and Merlin. He is survived his sister Louella Fuller; his son, Michael Holbrook, daughter-in-law Juanita, grandson Shaun, married to Becca Holbrook, grandson Travis Holbrook, and his significant other, Anne Curtis; her daughter Breyonna Curtis. His great grandchildren Tyson, TJ and Taylynn Holbrook; step grandson Richard Doyle, and step great granddaughter Madison Doyle.

Visitation is from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Nov 3, 2017 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The funeral will take place the same day at 3:00 pm. Memorials should be sent to Stonecrest at Burlington Creek, Assisted Living, 6311 N Cosby Ave, Kansas City. MO.
