Kenneth L. Dowden, of Jefferson City, Missouri, formerly of Maryville, Missouri, passed away on March 8, 2024. He was born on June 28, 1935, in Maryville, Missouri, to the late Harvey A. and Florence E. (David) Dowden.

He was married to Shirley Jean Wilson on August 12, 1963, in Maryville. He graduated from Maryville High School in 1953 and received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Northwest Missouri State University. For 14 years, he was a teacher and school administrator in Southwest Iowa and Northwest Missouri. He later worked for the Missouri Department of Mental Health, retiring in 1999. He was a former member of Immaculate Conception Church in Jefferson City, where he was a eucharistic minister and usher.

Survivors include son, Brian (Carla) Dowden, Jefferson City, Missouri; daughter- in-law, Michelle Dowden, Arlington, Texas; sister, Janice (Wayne) Nelson, Pickering, Missouri; brother, Richard (Patty) Dowden, Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jessica (Jesse) Mooney, Nicholas, Shannon, Ashley, Abby, and Andrew Dowden, one great-grandchild Savannah Mooney.

He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Dowden.

Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Jefferson City, MO, at 10 am, Friday, March 15, with a celebration of Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 am.

An additional visitation will be Saturday 11:30 am, March 16, 2024, followed by burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Maryville, Missouri at 1:00 pm.
