Karen Kay Klemme, 80, of Maryville, Missouri was surrounded by her family as she passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Karen was born on April 8, 1943 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Raymond and Helen (McCutcheon) Klemme. She was a graduate of Maquoketa High School. Karen went on to settle in Maryville, Missouri where she had worked for Uniroyal, Northwest Missouri State University and eventually retired from Eveready
Karen was full of life. She was always making new friends, whether that was while on a walk at Walmart or just striking up a conversation with a stranger. She enjoyed going to ball games and watching her hummingbirds. In the Fall, she was always ready to cheer on the Chiefs and Bearcats. Most of all, she loved being a grandmother to her three granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and many more that knew her as, "Granny K."
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Tom Stephens, and granddaughter, Kelsey Anne Gage.
Survivors include her daughter, Tammy (Brad) Gage; brother, Gerald (Yonnie) Klemme, sister, Carol (Mike) Williams, sister, Linda Stephens, and brother, Rick (Joan) Klemme; three granddaughters, Hannah (Quayde) Bauman, Madesen (Mitchell) Officer and Peyton Gage and her fiancé Cooper Hudson; one great-granddaughter, Mya Officer; numerous nieces and nephews and her grand-dog, Pippa.
Services 1pm Saturday, March 23rd at Price Funeral Home. Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, March 22nd at the funeral home.
