Jane Twaddle
1922-2016
Jane Twaddle, Maryville, Missouri, passed away early Sunday morning at the Parkdale Manor Care Center in Maryville. She was 94 years old. Jane was born on January 17, 1922 in Taylor County, Iowa, the daughter of the late Glen McMaster and the late Dorothy Corwin McMaster of Clearmont, Missouri. She graduated from Hopkins High School in Hopkins, Missouri, in 1939, and three years later received a teaching certificate from Northwest Teachers College (now Northwest Missouri State University). She taught one year at the Elmo, Missouri Elementary School.
Jane married Raymond Bailey in 1942, and they had one son, Ronald Bailey, born on December 24, 1946. After Raymond's death, she eventually remarried, being wed to Hubert Twaddle on April 20, 1956, and taking residence in Elmo. A son, Randy Twaddle, was born to them on January 10, 1957. During their thirty one year marriage, Jane took care of the home, worked part time as a secretary, and occasionally played the organ at the Elmo United Methodist Church, and for funerals. Jane also liked to explore Nodaway River sandbars for rocks, and gather wildflowers along the country roads around Elmo. She was also a member of the Elmo American Legion Auxiliary.
After Hubert's death in 1987, Jane moved to Maryville, Missouri where she lived until her death. While living in Maryville, Jane took classes at the university, volunteered at the Nodaway County Historical Society, and traveled on Elder Hostel tours, including a stay at Ghost Ranch, New Mexico, a tour of Copper Canyon, Mexico, a dinosaur dig in Wyoming.
Jane was also preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth McMaster of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, stepson, Hubie Twaddle, Maryville, Missouri, and her daughter-in-law, Joy Bailey of Mountain Grove, Missouri. Survivors include her sons Ronald Bailey of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Randy Twaddle, Houston, Texas; grandson, Bret Bailey, and his wife, Vicki, of Cabool, Missouri; grandson, Cyrus Twaddle of Houston, Texas; great grandson, Raymond Taylor Bailey, great granddaughter, Sophia Rose Bailey of Cabool, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jane's family would like to extend our deep appreciation of, and gratitude to, the staff of the Parkdale Manor Care Center for their attentive and compassionate care of Jane while she was a resident.
A memorial service for Jane will take place at the Price Funeral Home in Maryville, Missouri on Thursday, April 7th at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation to the Nodaway County Historical Society.
