Obituary

James Grant Asher, 90, of Clearmont, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Maryville Living Center.

Jim was born on June 29, 1934 in Redding, California to James M. and Ruth A. (Hill) Asher. He was a graduate of Tulelake High School in Tulelake, California. Jim served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He relocated to Chicago, Illinois and worked for Lindahl Brother's Heavy Equipment. He worked for Schaumburg Transportation Company in Schaumburg, Illinois driving travel coaches. He semi-retired, moved to Mendota, Illinois and drove semi over the road and later drove school bus for the local district. He then moved to Clearmont, Missouri and worked for Nodaway Contracting and drove school bus for West Nodaway district 54. Jim served two terms as Mayor of Clearmont, Missouri. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Clearmont and Teamsters Local #731.

He married Mary A. Chaney-Smith in October 1985. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include Jim's children, Marian (Chris) Asher-Sand, Gail (Ray) Asher-Fiedler, stepdaughter, Lori (McCalvin) Smith-Freeman; sister, Donna Sanders; Sister-in-law Edna Asher, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Lillian Asher-Mapes, Myrna Asher, stepdaughter Leasa Fallmer, sister, Linda Sanders, and brother, Charles Asher.

Mr. Asher has been cremated under the care of Price Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11am Thursday, January 9th at Price Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Clearmont, Missouri. www.pricefuneralhomemaryville.com
