Hubert E. Gumm, Maryville, MO, passed away at his home Monday, July 18, 2016 surrounded by his family.
Hubert was born February 3, 1931 to Morton and Rena Breshears Gumm, in Weaubleau, MO. He graduated from Weaubleau High School in 1948. On September 18, 1950 he was united in marriage to Maxine Murray.
Hubert was a member of the First Baptist Church, Maryville.
He was a 40+ year member, and Past President, of Host Lions Club, Past President of Chamber of Commerce and Past President of Eagles Lodge #3669, Maryville.
His favorite past-times were hunting, fishing, bowling and spending time with family. Maxine Gumm passed away June 18, 1997. In 2000, he married Viola Peery Acklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maxine Gumm, brother Harold Gumm and sister Dorothy Coffey.
He is survived by his three children: Steven (Becky) Gumm, St. Joseph, Brenda (Dan) Rapp, Weatherby Lake, MO, and Linda (Doug) Schieber, Grain Valley, MO;
wife Viola, Maryville;
three step-children: Lora Lea Acklin, St. Joseph, Alan Acklin, Ida Grove, IA and Carolyn (Dale) Buhman, Clarksdale, MO;
two brothers: Don Gumm, Warsaw, MO and Thomas Gumm, Camdenton, MO;
eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren
and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Hubert worked for MFA Exchange for 48 years, with 32 years in Maryville. After retiring from MFA he started A+ Realty in Maryville, retiring from that in 2000. In 2000, he started his own rental business, which he managed until his death.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, July 21st, from 6-8 PM, at Maryville First Baptist Church, where Funeral Services will take place Friday, at 11:00 AM.
Graveside Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 23rd at Robinson Cemetery, Weaubleau, MO.
Memorials may be made to Maryville First Baptist Church or AseraCare Hospice.
