Helen Messner
1922~2017

Helen Belle Messner, 94, Maryville, M0, formerly of Parnell, MO, died March 6, 2017, at Parkdale Manor Nursing Home.

Helen was born June 7, 1922, in Oxford, Missouri, the daughter of the late Jesse and Delores (Anderson) McCrery. She married Lloyd Curtis Messner August 7, 1940 in Clarinda, Iowa.

She was a 1939 graduate of Parnell High School, was a homemaker and a retired Deputy Recorder of Nodaway County. Helen attended the
Ravenwood Christian Church.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd Messner (September 8, 1997) and son-in-law Jerry Fugate (October 12, 2015).

Surviving are her daughters, Karen Anne Fugate, Ravenwood, MO and Kathryn Rose "Katie" (Gerald "Buster") Newberry, Parnell, MO; grandchildren Kevin (Kim) Fugate, Ravenwood, Kimmy (Jay) Knopp, Oskaloosa, KS, Glenda Durst (Glen Kohout), Urbandale, IA, Gayla (Mike) Striplin, Maryville; great-grandchildren Chelsey (Trevor) McCrary, Dylan Downen, Haldon (Jamie) Fugate, Megan Fugate, Jordan Striplin, and Katlyn Striplin, and 5 step-grandchildren Addison Schelling, Bailey Hightower, Hunter and Heath Knopp, Alyssa Striplin, and great-great-grandson Easton Dale Fugate.

A visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 PM Friday, March10, 2017 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the funeral home with burial following in Nodaway Memorial Gardens.
