Fr. Samuel Russell, O.S.B., 71, of Conception, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, November 14,
2023 at St. Stephen's Infirmary at Conception Abbey, Conception, Missouri.

Fr. Samuel (John Robin) was born on May 14, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John and
Bernice (nee Gauchas) Russell.

He professed as a monk of Conception Abbey on February 17, 1977 and was ordained May 14,
1994. His assignments were many, but mostly in Conception Seminary College. For 41 years,
he served as a chaplain in the College (22 years), Dean of Students and Vice-Rector (12 years),
and President-Rector (7 years). For the past several years he resided in our Infirmary.

Vespers of the Faithful Departed will be prayed on Friday, November 17 at 7:15 pm at The
Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Conception, Missouri.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday, November 18 at The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception,
with burial following at St. Columba Cemetery, Conception, Missouri.
