Dorothy Vulgamott
1928 - 2019

Dorothy Evelyn Vulgamott, 91, died December 2, 2019, at Parkdale Manor, Maryville. She was born to Everett and Marie Lewis Porter on February 8, 1928, on a farm northeast of Maryville. She graduated from Ravenwood High School in 1944 and graduated from Hagee Beauty School. She was employed for a year at Select Beauty Salon, Maryville.

She married Verlin Dean Vulgamott on February 28, 1946, at the parsonage of the First Baptist Church, Maryville. To this union were born four children: Laverna Kay (Surinder) Sahai, Cypress,Texas; Russell Dean (Janice), Boerne, Texas; Roger Dale (Susan), Topeka, Kansas; and Richard Lee (Anita), Spirit Lake, Iowa. They farmed their entire married life northwest of Maryville. They were married 67 years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verlin, on May 12, 2013; two brothers, Lewis Laverne killed on Okinawa April 1,1945, and Wayne Weston Porter in November 2005; her mother and father-in-law, Virgil and Vesta Vulgamott, and brother-in-law, Carrol Vulgamott.

She is survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was a member of Laura Street Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Miriam Cemetery, Maryville.
