Doris Jean (Newberry) Allen, 97, of Clarinda, Iowa formerly of Hopkins, Missouri passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Goldenrod Manor.

Doris was born on September 6, 1926 in Ravenwood, Missouri to Palmer and Bessie Newberry.

Doris worked a variety of jobs over the years including the Mt. Ayr Nursing Home, Cudahy in Bedford, Clarinda Hospital, Hy-Vee in Bedford and Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. She was known to enjoy going to dances but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Doris married James Morehouse in November 1946. To this union two sons were born, William Joseph "Joe" and Stephen Edward. She later married Clifford Allen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Woodrow Newberry, Roscoe Newberry, James Newberry, Carl Newberry and Kenneth Newberry, three sisters, Roberta Grimes, Pauline King and Una Williams and a granddaughter, Jaime Morehouse.

Survivors include her sons, Joe (Kristi) and Steve (Brenda); grandchildren, Stephenie Fuller, Bill (Anja) Morehouse, Emily Morehouse, Kelly Morehouse, T.J. (Danielle) Morehouse and Brandon Morehouse; two step-grandchildren Michael and Kira along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Allen has been cremated under the care of Price Funeral Home. Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, November 15th at 2:30pm at the Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
