Charles A. Fattig, 82, of Barnard, Missouri passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville, surrounded by his wife and children.
Charles was born on February 26, 1944, in Rapid City, South Dakota to Austin and Marguerite (Hill) Fattig. He was a graduate of Bethany High School and received his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Northwest Missouri State University. He was a member of Laura Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was very active in the church’s construction/evangelical mission trips to the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Panama, Jamaica, Canada, Mexico, Wyoming, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Montana, Minnesota, Kansas, Colorado, South Dakota, Texas, and Illinois, spanning 32 years. Charles always said, “I can’t sing or preach a sermon, but I can serve the Lord with my hands.”
Charles had the heart of a farmer and farmed for 45 years, but he began his career as a schoolteacher and was later self-employed in the construction and roofing trades before he became a full-time farmer. He loved his family and enjoyed camping, hunting, mission trips, N races, and classic car shows.
He married his sweetheart Norma Reynolds on December 26, 1971, in Barnard, Missouri. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children and grandchildren: son, Jason Fattig; daughter, Jennima (Kevin) Wenck and their children: Jena (Kellan) Sydnes and Justin Wenck; daughter, Christi (Matthew) Wilson and their children: Nate and Ellie Wilson; daughter, Cathy (Bobby) Miller and their children: Bailee and Braxton Miller; and his sister Sherri (Dan) Johnson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Dan Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Thursday, October 15, at Laura Street Baptist Church under the care of Price Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Nodaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9 am until 11 am, at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Laura Street Baptist Church foreign or home missions.
