Obituary

Charlene Lee Davison Thompson passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021, while a resident of Parkdale Nursing Home. As a lifelong devoted Christian, she no doubt has already touched the hand of God. As much as she loved her family here, what a joy it must be to reunite with her beloved husband (Jimmie), who died in 1997, and their dear daughter D'Ann, who passed in 2012. Her parents, Chester and Lavern (Looker) Davison also preceded her in death.

Charlene is survived by Marlene and Curt and her youngest son, Scott of San Francisco. Her grandson, Jesse Thompson and his wife Kristin live in Maryville and are parents to Charlene's six great grandchildren - Taten, Taylor, Jayce, Gunner, Mia, and Truett - all of whom brought such joy to her life. She has one great-great granddaughter, Grace Ann of Maryville.

In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by two brothers, Gerald (Kay) of Maryville and Dan (Debbie) of Moberly and two sisters, Norma Jean Hansen (Paul) of Independence and Judy Mayes (Tim) of Longmont, CO. As long as she was able, she enjoyed keeping in touch with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and long-time friends. She was a faithful caregiver to older relatives and friends throughout her adult life.

In 1949, Charlene graduated from Horace Mann High School. In June that year she married James B. (Jimmie) Thompson, her high school sweetheart. Her eight years in 4-H prepared her well for life as a wife and mother on their farm northwest of Maryville. They and their children attended church regularly at the Wilcox United Methodist Church. Charlene loved teaching Sunday school classes and was always available to help with summer's Bible School program and fall's Lord's Acre in Wilcox. After Jimmie's death in 1997, Charlene transferred her membership to the First United Methodist Church in Maryville where she was a member until her death.

As she requested, there will a graveside service for family and friends at Miriam Cemetery on Saturday, September 18th at 2pm. Casual dress. Masks recommended by the family. The Reverend Kim Mitchell will officiate. Family and friends are also welcome to pay their respects to Charlene at Price's from 9:00am to 1:30pm on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, Charlene requested several years ago that donations in her name be made to Children's Mercy Hospital, c/o Price Funeral Home in Maryville.
