Byron
Mayes
Mar 20, 1984 — Apr 29, 2024
Maryville
Byron Mayes passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 29, 2024, at the age of 40. He was born March 20, 1984, in Maryville, MO. He was a member of the Maryville High School class of 2002 and spent most of his life living in his hometown.
Byron will be remembered as a loving son, brother, and uncle. His day was not complete until he had helped his mom with a task or spent time working on something for his dad at Cobbler Cottage. He also had a way with dogs and put all his love into them. Above all else, Byron cherished the time spent with his beloved nephews and nieces. He loved being able to joke and tease them with stories of Bob the Goat and silly nicknames. He also had a passion for cooking, crocheting, and fishing that he enjoyed sharing with family. He was always ready to go on an adventure, especially if it involved helping someone he loved. Byron will be tremendously missed by those he chose to share his time with, and his infectious smile, laughter, and warm heart will forever be etched in their hearts.
Byron leaves behind his parents, Kyle and Sandy Mayes, two brothers, Aaron Mayes (Alisha Degase), Dane Mayes (Gabby Haggard); several nieces and nephews, Alex Mayes, Tyler Cook, Kohlby Cook, Collin Mayes, Addi Haggard, and Jasper Mayes; aunt and uncle, Penny (Jim) Proctor and Brian (Pam) Muncy and numerous extended family and friends. His memory will live on through the stories and moments shared with those fortunate enough to have known him.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Rheta and Bud Fannon and paternal grandparents, Roy and Beverly Mayes.
Mr. Mayes has been cremated under the care of Price Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, 10:30am, at Nodaway Memorial Gardens followed by a memorial luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family to help with final expenses.
