Alfred Wilmes, Maryville, Mo. Alfred Wilmes, 92, of Maryville, Mo. passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Oak Pointe of Maryville.

Alfred Francis Wilmes was born March 26th, 1931 in Maryville, Mo to George and Gertrude Wilmes. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1954 as a meteorologist. Upon his discharge from the service, Alfred was engaged in farming until his retirement in 1995.

Alfred was united in marriage to Margaret Ellen "Peggy" (Tuttle) on April 24th, 1954 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Parnell, Mo. To this union were born nine children.

Alfred farmed with his father for nine years before purchasing a farm in Parnell, Missouri and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church until his retirement.

Peggy preceded him in death Oct. 19th, 1984.

Alfred was united in marriage to Fran (Brown) Auffert at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Maryville, Mo. November 30th, 1985. She preceded him in death December 22nd, 2019.

Upon retirement, Alfred and Fran moved from their farm in Parnell to Maryville. He enjoyed various activities including traveling, playing cards with family, square dancing, golf, bowling, and attended St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Maryville and he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Alfred is survived by his nine children: Marvin (Lori) Wilmes, Boone, Iowa; Vincent (Joan) Wilmes, Ravenwood, Mo.; David (Kelly) Wilmes, Dean (Tara) Wilmes, Linda Noble, Roland (Chantel) Wilmes, all of Stanberry, Mo.; Norbert (Tammy) Wilmes, Maitland, Mo.; Nancy Wilmes, Maryville, Mo.; and Karl (Stephanie) Wilmes, Ravenwood, Mo.; four step-children, Bob (Kim) Auffert, Greg (Stephanie) Auffert, Tim (Tonia) Auffert, and Rosalee (Terry) Strom ; 45 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by nine siblings: Louise O'Connell, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Richard (Darlene) Wilmes, Raymond (Bert) Wilmes, Charles (Louise) Wilmes, Phillip (Karen) Wilmes, Thomas (Sheri) Wilmes, Ken (Marilyn) Wilmes, all of Maryville, Mo.; Geri (Jack) Ulmer, Wichita, Kansas; and Pauline Bjournsrud, Ft. Myers, Florida; Alfred's in-laws, John Joyce of St. Joseph, Mo., Paul Spire of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Cecelia Wilmes, Donna Wilmes, and Janet Wilmes, all of Maryville, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings: Bernard, Rita, Helen, Joe, Jerry, and Delores; three brothers-in-law, Tom O'Connell, Dean Stamps; and BJ Bjournsrud; two sisters-in-law, Odelia Wilmes, and Penny Wilmes: and two sons-in-law, Tim and Rick Noble.

Mass of Christian Burial 11am Friday, November 3rd at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church under the care of Price Funeral Home. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery, Parnell, Missouri. Rosary 5:30pm Thursday, November 2rd at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8pm.
