Verlin Eugene Long, 72, of Maitland, Missouri passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Verlin was born on November 1, 1948 in Maryville, Missouri to the late Verle E. and Imo B. (Lowrance) Long. He was a 1966 graduate of Nodaway-Holt High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University. Verlin was a member of the United States Air Force, and
he served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He had been a bakery manager with HyVee at Maryville, MO and Omaha, NE.
He was a member of the Maitland Christian Church. Verlin truly loved the Lord with all his heart. He was full of passion for the Word of God and could be found diligently studying it. He longed to see revival and was a strong believer in the power of prayer and always praying for the needs of his family and others. He was always full of positivity and would often say, “I am blessed and the joy of the Lord is my strength.”
He married Linda D’Ann Peter on May 23, 1971 in Skidmore, Missouri. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children, Shane (Chesnie) Long, Morganton, North Carolina, Matthew Long, Sterling, Colorado, April (Terry) Schwebach, Maitland, Missouri and Brett (Abbie) Long, Maitland, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Britney Mann, Gage, Kaleb,
Payton, Ashlyn Long, Fayth, Braden, Preston, Bristol Schwebach, Gracie, Naomi, Ethan, and Bryson Long; one great-grandchild, Alex Schwebach; two sisters, Debi Wagoner, Clarinda, Iowa and Diana Long, Graham, Missouri.
Private Family Services will be held on Thursday, January 7th under the care of Price Funeral Home. Burial Maitland Cemetery, Maitland, Missouri. No visitation will be held. Memorials can be made in care of the Tri-City Nutrition Site or the Maitland Christian Church. Online condolences
