Velda was a good soul. She was a peaceful and loving motherly presence for many generations of young men who lived on the campus of Conception Seminary. I'm thankful to have known her. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.

My sincere condolences go out to Velda's family. I know you will sorely miss such a wonderful presence in your lives. One thing you can gain comfort from, is the hope present in the bible that we can look forward to: “He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.” (Isaiah 25:8) We also have the hope found in Luke 14:14, "For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous ones." The resurrection this verse talks about will give us the opportunity to see our lost loved ones again on Earth. I know it will be a joyous time when you can reunite with Velda!

My prayers and condolences to the Mattson family on the death of Velda. As a student at Conception back in the 18980's Velda brougt sunshine into gloomy days, warmth to cut thorugh the cold winter days, and an encouraging word during some discouraging times. Her smile was contageous and her laughter was uplifting. God bless her, and may she rest in peace. ~Fr. Tom Ludwig, Class of 1983
