1937 - 2018

Norma R. Stites, 81, of Hopkins, Missouri passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Parkdale Manor in Maryville.

Norma was born on January 17, 1937 in Hopkins, Missouri to George R. and Pearly M. (Logan) DeMott. She was a graduate of Hopkins High School. Norma was a member of the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Rosanna Chapter 262 for over 50 years and the Elks Club.

She worked as a school secretary and later the Hopkins State Bank and was the bookkeeper of Stites Oil Company.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ronald DeMott and one sister, Delores Motsinger.

She married Byron Stites on July 17, 1956 in Hopkins, Missouri. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include daughter, Tina West (David Nisley); son, Todd (Mary Jane) Stites; four grandchildren, Casey (Jenna) West, Logan (Kara) West and Shelby and Madison Stites; four great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Layne, Stella and Austin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Stites has been cremated under the care of Price Funeral Home. Graveside Services 11am Thursday, January 3rd at the Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins, Missouri. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or AseraCare Hospice. Online condolences can be made to the family at

Like many, I have many fond memories of fun and happy times at the Stites household growing up. Norma was beloved by all of us and will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.
