Homer Leon Council

Homer Leon Council, 90, Barnard, Missouri, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at Golden Living Community, Maryville, Missouri .

Homer was born October 6,1919 in Graham, MO, to the late Reid and Goldie Bernice Russell Council.

He married Neva Marie Yahrmark on August 9, 1941 in Rock Port, MO . She preceded him in death on July 30, 2009.

He served his country in the US Navy during World War II.

Homer was a member of the Graham United Methodist Church and a lifelong farmer of the Barnard Area.

Others preceding him in death were his sister Nina Blair and two brothers Murray Dean and Harold Council.

Survivors include one daughter, Marietta Grimes, Des Moines, Iowa.

Visitation: 6:30-7:30 PM Monday evening March 15, at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 16, at Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, MO

Catherine Mary Spire Busby
March 9, 2010

Catherine Mary (Spire) Busby, 81, of Parnell, Missouri, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Village Care Center, Maryville, Missouri.

Catherine was born March 11, 1928, in Parnell, Missouri the daughter of Vincent and Josephine (Lager) Spire. A graduate of Parnell High School, she married John Lawrence Busby on October 4, 1947 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Parnell.

A homemaker, Catherine was a member of St Joseph’s Parish, St Ann’s Altar Society, the American Legion Auxiliary, Parnell and she was an American Red Cross Volunteer. Catherine loved to quilt and crochet.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leo Spire.

Survivors include her husband, John L. Busby, of their home, in Parnell; their children: Larry (Debbie Defreece) Busby, Parnell, Earl (Teri Andrews) Busby, Killgore, Texas; Richard (Cindy Runde) Busby, Parnell Mary Jo (Mike) Barmann, Maryville and Kevin (Juanita Shipers)Busby, St. Joseph, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren: Brad (Jamie) Busby; Natalie (Matt) Yaple; Matthew Busby; Beth Anne (Michael) Miller; Andy Jennifer) Busby; Kristy Driskell; Stacey (Mark) Allen; Karen (Matt) Redd; Chris (Katie) Barmann; Jenni (Pat) Jordan; Greg (Miraya) Barmann; Claire and Dominick Busby; thirteen great-grandchildren: Baylie Busby; Makayla Yaple; Ella and Lilly Miller; Andrea and Willie Busby; Drew Driskell; Mitch Parsons; Grant, Lauren and Evan Redd; Ryan Barmann and Charles Jordan; a brother: Gene (Pat) Spire, Maryville; sisters: Emerita Lory, Charlotte, North Carolina; Mary Griffey and Jerry, St. Joseph, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.

A 7 pm Family Rosary will be Wednesday, March 10th. at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.

Visitation is 5:30 – 7 pm Thursday, March 11, 2010 followed by a 7 pm Parish Rosary at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Parnell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Friday, March 12, 2010 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Parnell, Missouri.

Doris Marjorie Wiley
March 7, 2010

Doris Marjorie Wiley 89, Maryville, Missouri died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, Missouri.

She was born December 21, 1920 in Pickering, Missouri, the daughter of Ernest and Martha (Wilson) Swinford. Doris graduated from Maryville High School in 1938. She married Chester Cyril Wiley May 14, 1939 in Troy, Kansas.

Mrs. Wiley was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Maryville. She had retired from Nodaway Drug Store, Maryville.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Chester Wiley (October 24, 1990), her parents; a brother, Kenneth Swinford and sisters: Margaret Woods, Mary Keith and Barbara Jean Howery.

Survivors include her son: Michael (Mitzie) Wiley, Gallatin, Missouri; three grandsons: Scott (Sommer) Wiley, Ashland, Missouri; Bob Wiley, St. Joseph, and Vince Wiley, Gallatin; three
great-grandchildren, Samuel. Sofia and Shannon Wiley; a brother: Jack Swinford, Maryville and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 1-2 pm Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri with
Funeral Services following at 2pm.

Burial will be in Nodaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Maryville, Missouri.

Orlena Josephine Bever
March 3, 2010

Orlena Josephine Bever, 103, Maryville, Missouri, formerly of Clearmont, Missouri, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

Orlena was born February 9, 1907 in Clearmont to William Henry and Mary Josephine (Clayton) Hoy. A homemaker, she was a lifelong resident of the Clearmont area and member of the Clearmont First Baptist Church.

Preceding Orlena in death were: her son Fred W. Bever, two sisters, Eva Bancroft and Fontell Blanchard; three brothers John, Max, and Drexel Hoy, and a grandson Fred William Bever, Jr.

Surviving are three grandchildren: Charlotte Jones, Kansas City, Missouri, Linda Wilson, Villisca, Iowa, and Vinvent Bever, College Springs, Iowa, and seven great-grandchildren.

Orlena’s body has been cremated and private graveside services will be held at the Oakhill Cemetery, Clearmont.

Marguerite Alice Conley, 65, Maryville, Missouri, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville.

She was born June 11, 1944, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of John and Mary (Cunningham) Comella.

A graduate of Bishop LeBlond High School, St. Joseph, Missouri, Marguerite married Richard Eugene Conley April 3, 1964 in St. Joseph.

She was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community, a homemaker and she worked at Eugene Field Elementary School, Maryville.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband: Richard Conley (December 21, 2000); her parents; and brothers: Phillip and Joe Comella

Survivors include her children: Bill (Lila) Conley, Maryville; Terry (Lisa) Conley, Gentry, Missouri; David (Pam) Conley, Jennifer (Jeff) Partridge, Matt and (Holly) Conley, all of Maryville; eighteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Mary Ellen (Don) Mears, Topeka, Kansas; Mike (Jackie) Comella, Cathy Comella, Judy Comella, John Comella and Steve Comella, all of St. Joseph; nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 7-8pm Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville

Mass of Christian Burial is 10 am Friday, March 5, 2010 at St Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville. Burial is in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph.


 
 
Eula Marie Larabee
February 28, 2010

Eula Marie Massengale Larabee 85, Clearmont died Sunday, February 28, 2010, at St.Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri.

She was born April 8, 1924 near Graham, Missouri, the daughter of Charles William and Elizabeth (Rauch) Massengale. Eula graduated from Graham High School in the class of 1942. She married Eldon Elbert Larabee, January 30, 1946 in Hiawatha, Kansas.

A homemaker, she was a member of the Hopkins First Christian Church and Christian Women’s Fellowship, Hopkins; the American Legion Auxiliaries in Braddyville, Iowa and Burlington Junction, Missouri; North Nodaway Band Parents; Helping Hands Club and many neighborhood clubs. Eula also served as an Election Judge in Clearmont for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Eldon Larabee on November 8, 2001; a daughter: Janice Marie Ellen Larabee; her parents; brothers: John and Denzil Massengale and great-granddaughter: Briley Hull.

Mrs. Larabee is survived by her children: Linda (Allen) Davison, Maryville; Sherry (Joel) Rybolt, Ft Gibson, Oklahoma; Eldon Lee (Elaine) Burlington Junction, Missouri; Kenneth Larabee and his fiancé, Debbie Valencia, St Joseph, Missouri and Philip (Lora) Larabee, Pickering, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-7:30 pm Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri. Funeral Services will be 1:30 pm. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the First Christian Church, Hopkins, Missouri. Burial is in Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, Missouri.

Dayne Christian Fast, infant son of David and Amy (Stone) Fast died Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska. He was born February 18, 2010 at the Community Hospital in Fairfax, Missouri.

Dayne was preceded in death by a maternal Aunt: Kathy Johnson; Paternal Great-Grandparents:
Lola Fast and John and Marjorie Sloan and his cousin: Brayden Callow.

Survivors include his parents: David and Amy Fast, Fairfax, Missouri; Maternal Grandparents: Fred R and Desiree Stone, Lathrop, Missouri; Paternal Grandparents: Dennis and Judy Fast, Burlington Junction; Maternal Great-Grandparents: Fred W and Betty Stone, Holt, Missouri; Paternal Great-Grandfather: Donald Fast Sr, Burlington Junction; Step-Great-Grandmother: Joan Sloan, Burlington Junction; many Uncles, Aunts and Cousins.

Visitation is 6-8pm Monday, March 1, 2010 at Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville.
Funeral Services will be 10am Tuesday, March 2nd at Laura Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction.

Gerald Gene Foster
February 25, 2010

Gerald Gene Foster, 85, Maryville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St Joseph, Missouri.

He was born December 17, 1924 in Maryville the son of William Henry and Mary Amelia (Crawford) Foster and was a 1943 graduate of Maryville High School.

Gerald served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. He married Kathleen Marie Pope October 16, 1948 in Maryville.

Mr. Foster owned and operated Foster Saw and Lawnmower Shop in Maryville many years.

He was a member of St Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community, Maryville; The Tri C American Legion Post #464, Conception Junction, Missouri; a former member of the Elk’s Club and a former City Councilman having served in 1969 when Maryville was
designated an “All American City”.


He was preceded in death by his sons: Patrick Foster (1959) and John Foster (2005) and his parents.

Survivors include his wife: Kathleen Foster, of their home in Maryville; his daughters: Gerry (Jerry) Wagner, Bethany, Missouri and Rosie (John) Archer, Maryville; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother: Fred Foster, Maryville; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6-7 pm at Price Funeral Home, Maryville followed by a family and parish Rosary at 7 pm, Friday, February 26th.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 27, 2010 at St Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville with burial in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Maryville.

Military Honors will be conducted at graveside by the Tri-C American Legion Post
#464, Conception Junction, Missouri.

Patrick J Kelley, 100, Maryville, Missouri, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Golden Living Care Center, Maryville.

He was born January 4, 1910 in the state of Washington,the son of Patrick and Elinor Kelley.

A farmer, Pat was a member of St. Columba Parish, Conception Junction, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Patricia Kathleen O'Donnell
February 22, 2010

Patricia Kathleen O'Donnell, 83, of Barnard, Missouri died on Monday, February 22, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri.

Born March 17, 1926 in Clyde, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late John and Lena Henkel Wilmes. She married James O'Donnell July 8, 1946 in Maryville.

A homemaker, Pat was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Laurette Gama Rho Chapter and the Maryville Bowling League.

Surviving are husband James of their home; sons, Gene O'Donnell, Independence, Missouri, Marlin O'Donnell, Barnard, Missouri, David (Joanne)O'Donnell, Maryville, daughters, Delores "Dee" Wohlford, Kansas City, Missouri, Cathy (Jim) New and Connie Hilsabeck, both of Barnard, brother, Ambrose "Speck" Wilmes of Ida Grove, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, four brothers, John, Marion, Ernest, Ally Wilmes and a sister, Viola Yates.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, February 26 at the Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at the Funeral Home Chapel in Maryville,

Mildred Elaine Fannon

Mildred “Millie” Elaine Fannon, 79, Maryville, MO, died February 20, 2010.

Millie was born February 13, 1931, in Buchanan County, Missouri; the daughter of the late John H. and Mary Marie Orwick Anderson.

She was a graduate of Central High School, St. Joseph, MO. Millie was united in marriage to Robert Dale Fannon, June 1, 1950, in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1987.

Retiring after 19 years, she had worked for the Continental Baking Company as a retail clerk at the Hostess Thrift Store, NOCOMO industries, and Eugene Field School’s Cafeteria all in Maryville. She was a member of the Maryville Eagles Lodge #3669 and was of the Christian Faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Carl Dean Anderson, and one sister in law, Shirley Anderson.

Survivors include: 2 sons; Rodney (Fran) Fannon, Pasedna, TX, Sid(Debbie) Fannon, Maryville, MO;
Daughter Sheila (Allen) Nielson, Barnard, MO; sister Barbara (John) Bunkowski, St. Joseph, MO; 3 brothers, John (Martha) Anderson, Doyle Anderson both of St. Joseph, MO and Donald (Betty) Anderson, St. Charles, MO; and one sister in law, Nancy Anderson, St. Joseph, MO; 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Doris Charmaine O'Riley Kling LaTempa

Doris Charmaine O’Riley Kling LaTempa (86) of Maryville, Missouri, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at the Golden Living Center, Maryville, Missouri.

Doris was born, March 16, 1923, in Maryville, the daughter of Joseph Alphonso and Mary Beatrice (Bagby) O’Riley.

A graduate of Skidmore High School in Skidmore, Missouri, Doris worked in retail sales for the JC Penney Company. She was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Joseph and Patrick O’Riley and sister: Joan
Carstens.

Survivors include her son: Patrick Kling, Platte City, Missouri; sisters: Virginia Allen, Maryville; Peggy Wilmes, Maryville and Carolyn Yocum, Pomm De Terrre, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. LaTempa’s body has been cremated.

Visitation is 10-11 am Saturday, February 27, 1020 at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville with a Memorial Mass following at 11 am.


 
 
Marvin Joseph Schmitz
February 16, 2010

Marvin Joseph Schmitz, 52, Kissee Mills, Missouri, formerly of Parnell, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Maryland.

Marvin was born, August 13, 1957, in Maryville, Missouri to Robert Joseph and Joanne Pitzenberger Schmitz.

A graduate of Northeast Nodaway High School in Ravenwood. Marvin was the owner/operator of the Parnell Service Station in Parnell. He also farmed with his father Robert on the family farm.

He married Carla Sharp Schmitz on July 10, 1976, at St Joseph Parish in Parnell.

Marvin was a member of the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Branson, and the Knights of Columbus, at Lady of the Ozarks Catholic Church in Forsyth, Missouri.


Survivors include his wife Carla Schmitz,of the home, Kissee Mills, one daughter, Laloni (Phillip) Bradberry, Lake Charles, LA, two sons Nathan Schmitz, Maryville, and Isaac Schmitz of the home, Kissee Mills; one grandson Jason Bradberry, Lake Charles. LA; parents Robert and Joanne Schmitz, Parnell, four brothers, Roger (Julia) Schmitz, Parnell, Brian (Diana) Schmitz, Maryville, Charlie (Kim) Schmitz, St. Joseph, John (Jane)Schmitz, Meadville; and two sisters, Regina (Jonathan) Keyes, Maryville, Angela (Stacy) Bennett, St Joseph; nieces, nephews and a host of other friends and loved ones.

Family Rosary: Sunday, Feb. 21. 6:30 PM, Price Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
