Roy J. Mayes, Jr., 83, Maryville, Missouri, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his home in rural Maryville.
Roy was born August 15, 1928, in Maryville, Missouri to Roy James and Mary From Mayes.
He married Beverly Allee on November 23, 1952, in Maryville.
A graduate of Maryville High School. He was a shoe cobbler and owner and operator of Cobbler Cottage until his retirement. Roy stayed active helping at the store, doing carpentry, and worked at the Maryville Hy-Vee Foodstore.
He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen Meyer and Mildred Partridge, and a brother Carl Mayes.
Survivors include: his wife Beverly Mayes of the home; son Kyle (Sandy) Mayes and daughter Katie (Bernie) Myers, both of Maryville; grandchildren Aaron (Cindy) Mayes, Byron Mayes, Dane (Brandi) Mayes, Starla and Kole Myers all of Maryville; great grand son Alex Mayes; sister Mary Louise (Forrest) Byergo, Maryville; several brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, July 23, 2012, at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville with burial following in Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville, Missouri. Military services will be provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program and James Edward Gray American Legion Post #100 of Maryville.

Located approximately 45 minutes North of St. Joseph, Missouri, via Interstate 29 North to US 71 North (Exit 56A), Price Funeral Home is located at the corner of First and Market in Maryville, Missouri.
Coming from the South: Stay on US 71 North (1st stop light) to the intersection of MO 46 & US 71/136 Highways (2nd Stop Light). At the light turn left onto MO 46 West, continue going straight West 14 blocks. Turn left on Market, and the funeral home parking lots (upper and lower levels) are to the left.
Coming from the North: Stay on US 71/136 South (1st stop light) to the intersection of MO 46/US136. Merge right onto MO 46 West, continue straight on First Street traveling 14 blocks to Market (turn left), and the parking lots are on the east side of Market Street.
Coming from the East: Stay on MO46/US136 West (1st stop light), continue straight on First Street to the intersection of Market Street. Turn left and the parking lots are on the left.
Coming from the West: Stay on MO46 East (First Street), continue on through 1st stop light (First and Main), go one block East, turn right on Market, and parking is on the left.
