Charles Linwood Birkenholz, 98, Hopkins, Missouri, died Friday, July 13, 2012, at his home near Pickering, Missouri.
He was born near Pickering, on November 16, 1913 to Charles A. and Bessie (Lincoln) Birkenholz.
Linwood was a graduate of Gaynor High School, a veteran serving as a corporal during World War II in the United States Army, and a member of the Pickering United Methodist Church.
His loves were farming on the home place for 91 years and his family.
Linwood married Margaret Schildknecht of Rea, Missouri on December 28, 1943 in Red Bank, New Jersey.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one son Lowell Birkenholz.
Survivors include his wife Margaret Birkenholz, of the home; two sons Lawrence (Karen) Birkenholz, Independence, Missouri and Louis (Cheryl) Birkenholz, Hopkins, Missouri; grandchildren Charles (Denise) Birkenholz, Norfolk, Virginia, Mick (Robin) Birkenholz, Mount Ayr, Iowa, Kurt (Amber), Henderson, Nevada, Jesse and Leslie Birkenholz, Hopkins; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Pickering United Methodist Church. Burial: White Oak Cemetery, Pickering. Military services will be provided by the James Edward Gray American Legion Post 100, Maryville and the Missouri Military Honor Program.
Family and friends are invited to a time of fellowship and a luncheon at the Pickering community center beginning at 11:30 AM after the burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his Pickering Methodist Church, the Union township Community Building or the White Oak Cemetery.
