Phillip Dysart Townsend, 59, Maryville, Missouri died Friday, May 11, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville.

Phil was born February 7, 1953, Maryville, Missouri, and was the son of the late Robert and Ruth (Dysart) Townsend. He married JoAnn Seipel at Mt. Alverno Chapel, Maryville July 20, 1974, who survives of the home.

He was a 1971 graduate of King City High School and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1975 with a Bachelors degree in Ag-Business and was a farmer.

Phil was an active participant in the Northwest Missouri Tractor Pulling Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bob Townsend, and sister Sharon Townsend.

Surviving are son, Chad (Cadence) Townsend, Maryville, MO, daughter, Mindy (Josh), Overland Park, KS, grand daughter Kelby Townsend; brothers Gary (Pam) Townsend and Eddie Townsend of Rea, MO; sisters, Marilyn (Spencer) Brown, Donna (Warren) Townsend , Patty Monical and Cheryl (Mike) Stackpole, all of St. Joseph.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Maryville.

A memorial service will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM at the church.
