Gary Lynn Owens, 58 of Grain Valley, Missouri died on Saturday, January 1, 2011, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri.

Born February 2, 1952 in Barnard, Missouri, he was the son of the late Orbin C. and Mary Ellen Beattie Owens.

He was a graduate of Central High School, St. Joseph, Mo and owned and operated the Duncan and 7 Barber Shop in Blue Springs for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister Lucinda; 3 brothers, Doyle Thomas (Tommie), Bobby Dean, and Dale Vernon Owens

Surviving are son Scott (Mary) Owens, Raymore, MO; daughter, Shelly (J.R.) Owens, Kansas City, MO; 2 sisters, Norma (Willis) Sherry, Platte City, MO and Carol Hale, of Oklahoma; and 2 grandchildren, Jessica and Scott Owens, Jr.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2 PM, Thursday, January 6, 2010 in the Barnard Masonic Cemetery, Barnard, MO.

As per Gary's request the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Monday January 10, 2011, at The Duncan and 7 Barber Shop, Blue Springs, MO.
