Opal Maxine Logan, 93, formerly of Maryville, MO, died August 20, 2010 at her home at the Gables Assisted Living, Overland Park, KS.

Born October 23, 1916, near Guilford, Missouri, she was the daughter of Harvey W. and Otha M. (Rimel) Laughlin. She was united in marriage to James “Lloyd” Logan July 30, 1939. He preceded her in death in 2008.

She was a graduate of Stanberry High School, Stanberry, MO and received Bachelor and Master degrees in education from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. Opal was a school teacher for 23 years in Clearmont, Savannah, Maryville and several rural schools.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Maryville, Knabb Country Club, Retired Teachers Association and Business & Professional Women. She was honored as BPW Missouri Woman of the Year in 1987.

She is survived by sons Robert D. (Sally) Logan, Lincoln, NE, Kenneth A. (Dee) Logan, Overland Park, KS, Richard L. Logan, Maryville, MO and daughters Barbara L. Giffin, Lawrence, KS, Linda S.Brown, Overland Park, KS, Nila K. Simmons, Olathe, KS, Pamela J. Delnevo (Stewart), Springfield, MO and Patricia L. Scheer (Glenn), Durango, IA., 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Beverly A. Bush, sister, Velvadeen Russell, brother, Russell Laughlin, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, August 25, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, Maryville with burial at Nodaway Memorial Gardens immediate following.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM August 24, 2010 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville. Memorial contributions may be sent to First United Methodist Church, Maryville, MO 64468.
