Helen Caroline BlackneyMay 27, 2010 Helen Caroline Blackney, 82, of Maryville, Missouri (formerly of Hopkins, Missouri) died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Golden Living Center, Maryville, Missouri.She was born November 6, 1927 in rural Ravenwood, the daughter of Otha Richard and Stella Marie (Wilson) McDowell. Caroline graduated from Pickering High School in Pickering, Missouri. She married Lewis Shelton Blackney on June 28, 1946 in Troy Kansas. Caroline was a member of the Hopkins Christian Church, Hopkins, the Order of the Eastern Star and she was a very active member of the Nodaway County Women’s Democratic Club, serving on the Election Committee.She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, her flowers and playing bingo and cards with family and friends. She will be remembered as a very loving mother, grandmother and a devoted friend.Preceding her in death were her husband, Lewis Blackney (July 18, 2004); parents; a brother: Wilson McDowell and sisters, Lauretta Ringgold and an infant. Survivors include her son, Lewis E (Jo) Blackney, Clearmont, Missouri; grandchildren: Michael Lewis (Dawn) Blackney, Maryville; Shannon (Adam) Bean, Maryville; Joey (Cindy) Hamilton , New Market, Iowa; Kari Reynolds and Brandi Glidden, Maryville; four great-grandchildren: Alex Bean, Myles Blackney, Brayden Reynolds and Rosie Hamilton.Visitation is 6 pm to 7pm Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.Graveside Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2010 at Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins, Missouri.Memorials may be made to SSM Hospice, 1912 South Main Street, Maryville, Missouri, 64468.
