Donald Henry Morehouse, 89, Maryville, Missouri, formerly of Hopkins, died Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Don was born August 13, 1922 in Hopkins to Henry and Amy Lawler Morehouse. He was a 1940 graduate of Hopkins High School. He married Frances Foster in Los Angeles, California on February 16, 1942.

Stationed in the Philippines and Japan during World War II, Don served in the US Army Signal Corp and Army Air Force Cadets. He and Frances farmed and raised registered Angus cattle west of Hopkins for many years. He also owned and operated Don's Welding in Hopkins before retiring. Don was a member of the Maryville First Christian Church, Maryville Elk's Lodge #760, Hopkins American Legion Post #288, and the Maryville Bowling Association.

Don was preceded in death in 2005 by his wife of 63 years, Frances; his parents; a sister, Cleo Mutti; and son-in-law, Jim O'Brien.

He is survived by his daughters, Elaine "Pemmy" O'Brien, Mountain View, Arkansas, Donna (Brian) Hall, Jackson, Mississippi, Janet (Ed) Drummond, Hopkins, Deb (Mark) DeMott, and Terri (Richard) Dawson, all of Maryville; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson, his beloved cat Fluffy, and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 14, at the First Christian Church, Maryville.

Burial will be at the Hopkins Cemetery with military services to be held under the auspices of the James Edward Gray American Legion Post #100 and the Glen-Ulmer American Legion Post #288. Memorials may be made to the Maryville Public Library or SSM Hospice of Northwest Missouri.
