Mary Alice Cornelison, 91, Maryville, Missouri, died March 25, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Maryville. She was born August 2, 1917, in Skidmore, Missouri to Joseph and Edith Cottier Tyson. At the age of five her mother died giving birth to her twin brother and sister, Joseph Curtis Tyson and Edith Cottier Tyson. Joseph Tyson later married her stepmother Elizabeth Thomson. Mary Alice graduated from Daleview Country High School near Skidmore in 1934 and attended Northwest Missouri Normal School (now Northwest Missouri State University). She married Dan Cornelison on April 23, 1939. She entered the work force as an assistant to Dr. H. L. Poynter Sr., O.D., and then later worked at Northwest Missouri State College for 17 years. She was a member of Chapter HT of P.E.O., Daughters of the American Revolution and the First Christian Church, and also was a hospice volunteer for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband Dan Cornelison and her brother Joseph and sister Edith. She is survived by her sons Richard, Flemington, New Jersey; Robert and wife Jantina, Rochester, New York; and Joe and his wife Ellita, Maryville; by grandchildren Chad Cornelison and wife Robin, Springfield, New Jersey; Celeste Cornelison, Hoboken, New Jersey; and Justin and Rebecca Cornelison, Rochester, New York; by step-grandchildren, Eugene Burch, Maryville; James Burch and his wife Maria, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Tom Lubberts and his wife Janelle, Jim Lubberts and his wife Debra, Joyce Collier and her husband Tom, and Karen Przybycien and her husband Wally, all of Rochester, New York; by two great-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren. During her life she was a loving wife and mother and avid supporter of many church, community and school activities. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 29 at the First Christian Church, Maryville. Funeral services will be at the First Christian Church, Monday, March 30, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Miriam Cemetery, Maryville. Arrangements are by Price Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in Mary Alice’s name to the First Christian Church of Maryville or SSM Hospice of NW Missouri, Maryville.

Located approximately 45 minutes North of St. Joseph, Missouri, via Interstate 29 North to US 71 North (Exit 56A), Price Funeral Home is located at the corner of First and Market in Maryville, Missouri.

Coming from the South: Stay on US 71 North (1st stop light) to the intersection of MO 46 & US 71/136 Highways (2nd Stop Light). At the light turn left onto MO 46 West, continue going straight West 14 blocks. Turn left on Market, and the funeral home parking lots (upper and lower levels) are to the left.

Coming from the North: Stay on US 71/136 South (1st stop light) to the intersection of MO 46/US136. Merge right onto MO 46 West, continue straight on First Street traveling 14 blocks to Market (turn left), and the parking lots are on the east side of Market Street.

Coming from the East: Stay on MO46/US136 West (1st stop light), continue straight on First Street to the intersection of Market Street. Turn left and the parking lots are on the left.

Coming from the West: Stay on MO46 East (First Street), continue on through 1st stop light (First and Main), go one block East, turn right on Market, and parking is on the left.
